The Connecticut Thunder returns to The NEFL AAA Play-offs for the first time since 2006

The Connecticut Thunder has earned a post season birth in there first season back in AAA, a confrence they have not been in since 2006. This is there seventh post season in eight years in the NEFL, a milestone that could not be accomplished without special people on and off the field. On Ct Bearcat's home field - Sheehan High School in Weathersfield Ct, our Connecticut Thunder's Playoff run proved to be short lived. In a rain soaked game 5-5 Ct Thunder squared off with the 9-1 Ct Bearcats. In a game of grit and determination those who made it to the game witnessed a battle of two defensive juggernauts, but ultimately this game came down to the Bearcats ability to make big plays when they needed them. By converting on several third and longs to keep the ball moving and catching some incredible End Zone passes. The Bearcats put the pressure on the Thunder to keep up. Which proved hard to do against such a dicipline team. In the end the Thunder was reduced to trying to make big plays to stay in the game and the Bearcats capitalized with a late defensive TD and interception run back to the 10yd line which ultimately lead to another TD and sealed the deal for the 2009 season.  Bearcats win 34-0 in the first round of the New England Football League Playoff Bracket.

League Allstars

The allstar selections are formulated.  The Thunder is allowed to have 6 based on our record. The more wins you have the more allstars you get.  Out of the 6 allstars, 1 of the 6 has to be a linemen. Which leaves 5 open spots for the rest of the team.  We also have 2 alternates, 1 offense, 1 defense.

1. Cory Johnson "lo"  - Outsatanding team leader and the thunders best all around linemen.

2. Jaime Bryant "Rocket" - team leader in TD's.

3. Tylee Flowers - defensive force leading the team in tackles

4. Brian McDonald "b-mac" - Impact playmaker on the defense and almost single handedly beat the N.E. Hawks

5. Andrew Aylene "drew" - One of the top three cover corners in the league

6. Sean Jenson - Team leader in receptions as well as his best year as a thunder reciever.

1. offensive alternate - Athen Tsoulas - By far his best year as a Place kicker with big makes of 45, 47 & 48.

2. defensive alternate- Fella - hampered with a season long bad knee injury was forced to play well out of the box and was still the leader in the secondary making all the coverage calls as well as plays.
